August @ FBBB
Hello friends! This month's blog post features a few events we will be a part of commemorating International Overdose Awareness Day (August 31.) If you can't join us in person, some of these events will be streamed on St. Luke's Episcopal Church's Facebook page.
-Our final booth date for the Jamestown Public Market this season will be August 27, so if you're local and want to nab some biscuits, come see us at the Market 10am-2pm on the 20th or the 27th!
-Join us at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, in partnership with the Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County, for the third annual Recovery Weekend events on August 27th and 28th. The weekend’s events will begin on Saturday, August 27th at 7pm with an Art in Recovery exhibit in the Undercroft, featuring the works of this year’s local artists in the Mental Health Association’s (MHA) Art in Recovery class. Light refreshments and “mocktails” (non-alcoholic cocktails) will be served.
-on Sunday, August 28th, in partnership with the Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County, St. Luke's will offer a special 10am service featuring the work of recovery through art, music, community action, and sacrament. Sean Jones will serve as guest preacher, and this year will include the unveiling of a special "prayer flag" public art installation. Recovery Sunday also commemorates National Overdose Awareness Day, remembering those who died from overdoses in the last year. A NARCAN training will follow the service.
We hope you can join us for one or all of these events, virtually or in person, and continue to support our work to bring connection and love to our community.
